A 3 weeks wild baby elephant lost his balance and was swept downstream by ranging river waters, the protective mother did the unthinkable and leaped into the river to save her son.

The mother leaped through the water and with her overstreched trunk catches the baby who was struggling and having trouble keeping his trunk above water to breath.

She managed to push the calf between her legs, protecting her from getting swept away and carefully guided him to the shore.

“While the video is heart-warming, the clip isn’t just about a mother elephant saving her baby — it also shows the sad effects of elephant poaching. the mothers own mother, was likely killed by poachers for her ivory, and she has struggled to raise her first calf without her mother’s help and guidance.” Mentions The Dodo
