Meeting time 5.55am. Guests on time. 6.00am- everyone arrives. We picked others along Thika road. You know how the car is a natural see-saw during safaris? People began to sleep. Besides, they woke up early to prepare for the trip. We stopped at NAME for guys to relax and some to take breakfast. We did introductions then Elisha the facilitator took over. His characteristically big beard intrigued the ladies. Some of them even went ahead and touched it just to get the rugged feel. Guess the ‘activities’ of our trip had commenced.

The Dab is still on trend so why not.
The jump is always on trend so oh yeah.

We then left for Nanyuki. Stopped at the equator where we were educated concerning the Coriolis Effect. What a name to pronounce especially for members originating from central Kenya. The theory states when at the equator then you move north, objects placed on water rotate clockwise and vice versa when you go towards the south for an approximate span of 10metres from the equator. Why exactly? Let’s just say, story for another day.

Cedar mall near Nanyuki was our next stop where we did some shopping for snacks at Chandaria supermarket. Some 300metres from where we were, we could see the great Mt.Kenya.

The mountain which people travel from all over the world to see and climb. The most famous landmark in our country dating to the time we had the ‘mau mau’ freedom fighters fighting for our independence from the colonialists.

Along the way we also saw big ranches, wheat plantation and a park where we saw an antelope and zebra. They were a bit far though, so we could not get the pictures distinctively.

On arrival people became like children once again. Some started skipping rope. “When I grow up, I want to be a child again,” one remarked.

It was clear refreshment just being in the vicinity as we deduce from the reactions. We proceeded for the canopy walk soon after and took photos with our cool banner. Well “See us world.”

The canopy was 40 ft high extending 400 meters long.

A lot of us were freaked out as the rope bridge wobbled as we walked along; but it was time to face your fears grasshopper- yes; we would have preferred being grasshoppers hopping along. Hey look at these cute kids not afraid at all.

From above we could see veteran trees 200 years old.

We also came along an elephant skull. I know…not creepy at all.

Then there was Mr.Chameleon with his camouflage tricks and one of us wanted to take a photo with him to see if he would out-trick him.

At the end of the canopy walk, there was a place where lunch could be taken. There was also this awesome natural swing. Ever seen that?

After the exciting excursion, we proceeded to be prepped for the hike. We did stretches and creative exercises as well, for example, trying to draw a number 4 with our bodies.

The hike would be 3 kilometers long and approximately 45 minutes. We were promised a sight of 3 natural swimming pools along the way and of course we would definitely swim in one.

The challenges were the steep places and of course our bodies began to ache. ‘Naomi’ {not real name} preferred to be carried by her prayer partner {not the literal term}. He be like, “I don’t know you.” It was indeed quite a laugh.

As promised, we got to swimming pool 1 but that was only for the bungee jumpers who were allowed to dive into that pool. Swimming pool 2 was more for cooling off but now swimming pool 3 was the esteemed one –the one popular for the common hoi polloi- as we could get right in for a swim.

Just as the swimming pools were natural so was the changing clothes process if you know what I mean. Some proceeded for a model shoot and other baptism by water activities just for fun.

There were breathtaking views and the water was so clean. The weather was spectacular as well and we thanked our oh! so glorious Lord. It’s amazing He created all this.

We spent about one hour in the water and those who did not swim caught up with civilization on their phones.

Going back, we were not tired. We were fulfilled, only to feel the fatigue later.

My wife wakes me up. “Honey, you’re late for work.” Waiiiit a minute, how did I get to Monday?
