2. A tour at Kongo Mosque

The mosque, the last standing relic of Swahili civilization. It is believed to be the first mosque in East Africa and was built by the Arab merchant.

It was abandoned for some time when the Arabs left Diani and years later it was brought back to life by a Muslim scholar. Few steps from the mosque is the stunning view of Indian ocean.

It also has round stones that date one another and makes it stand out as it believed to be a ritual place.

In the old days each community has a preserved place that they believed to be sacred. This forest was a sacred place for the Mijikenda people.

It is always good to learn about the diverse communities in the country by visiting this place and get to know the cultural beliefs of the Mijikenda people and their way of worship.

Colobus might not seem to cry out for help but yes, they do. This conservation center hidden in the coastal forest was started in August 1997 by volunteers who made a home for the habituated colobus monkey. The goal being to protect them and to stop human- wildlife conflicts with the local people around.  It is actually the only one in the county. This place offers a guided primitive eco-tour for its visitors, along the nature trail. Have an introduction to the wild colobus troop and other wild monkeys; the vervet, Sykes and baboons. The center is open for guided primitive eco- tours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Monday to Saturdays. On Sundays, it is usually closed for eco- tours.

This trust was started with an initiative to provide education to girls from poor backgrounds who can not afford it. It is basically a primary school of girls and empowers the girl child in order for them to feel equally important and fit in the society. One can visit the school with educational materials or just by simply sending money through their accounts.

Dine beneath a star-filled night sky in a unique environment with an extraordinary level of service and genuine hospitality. The restaurant is situated below the found in an ancient, naturally sculptured coral cave open to the sky. It serves international cuisine specializing in seafood and other choices as well.

The restaurant is open for dinner at 06:30 om every evening and making a reservation is advised to ensure you get a table. 

 13. Water Sports

You can never fail to engage in watersports when you visit Diani. Face your water fears, allow yourself to have that adrenaline rush, and enjoy all that Diani waters have to offer.
