I view travel as flirting with life. It’s like saying, “I would stay and love you but I have to go, this is my station. Well, I want to see how many footprints I leave on earth before I leave – not that I’m in a hurry, naah – because in the end, I won’t remember the time I spent working in the office – which I love btw – so, imma travel till I can’t anymore.”
“It’s a big and beautiful world. Most of us live and die in the same corner where we were born and never get to see any of it. I don’t want to be most of us.” – Oberyn Martell.
I want to make memories all over the world, this particular day I was going to make them at Ol Jogi Conservancy.
Ol Jogi (named for a native shrub) comprises 58,000 acres of the Laikipia Plateau. The private reserve was established more than 60 years ago for the protection of black rhinos. It is located 225 km from Nairobi. (4 hrs 35 min drive, 45-minute flight from Nairobi).
Our journey started at 0630hrs. Today, life has allowed me to check off a thing on my bucket list – seeing the polar bear before 2 decades are up – because the sad truth is that he is not going to be there during that time. Adventure spirit check…Second World Largest Wildlife Conservancy, here we come.
Truth be told, the journey to Ol Jogi is quite a distance. A quick fix to this is several stopovers.
Our first was Sagana (Magunas) where we took a few minutes to buy and have breakfast. The next one would be the renowned Equator for a photo session.
Sometimes all you need is a friend and a thirst for adventure
I wish I had road-trips that could pay my bills.
There is an unspoken bond you create with the friends you travel with…Udaku zone😂😂
Ol Jogi is nothing short of breathtaking, with a diverse landscape, sweeping views of Mt. Kenya, and an array of wildlife.
The Ranch itself is a haven for the preservation and future development of wildlife conservation, particularly endangered and threatened species such as Eastern Black Rhinos, Southern White Rhinos, African Wild Dogs, Cheetahs, Lions, Reticulated Giraffe, Laikipia Hartebeest, and Grevy’s Zebra.

Always respect Mother Nature. Especially when she weighs 400 pounds😅
No pictures to day my peeps
Maybe one😜😜
And maybe a smile😍😍
“Enough is enough, get out of my space” Was what he couldn’t speak aloud…
Today the conservancy, which also doubles as a wildlife rescue center (just like Ol Pejeta Conservancy), is home to about 80 rhinos (55 black and 25 white), 400 elephants, 22 species of ungulates, 5 species of large carnivores, 3 species of primates and 310 avian species.
Spider monkey…She chose him🙄🙄
By visiting the conservancy you help protect the endangered wildlife in Kenya. Ol Jogi is such a wonderful place with the only grizzly bear in Africa.
It is home to a plethora of wildlife and its conservation goals are diverse. In addition to the 45 Black Rhino and 19 White Rhinos, Ol Jogi hosts as many as 400 elephant depending on the season. 22 species of ungulates, 5 species of large carnivores and diverse small carnivores, 3 species of primates and 310 avian species are also present.
It is not important to win, its important to make the other guys loose….we did win tho😂🥇
Some of the activities visitors can enjoy while at Ol Jogi ranch includes, game drives, horse riding, walk with baboons, bird watching along Ewaso-Ng’iro river, visit to Twala cultural center among other activities.
When the guide gets you all to be all ears. The concentration😂
Let Children walk with Nature, let them see the beautiful blendings and communions of life, their joyous inseparable unity😍😍.
I never thought soil erosion could look this cute
Ol Jogi has a veterinary Clinic that now services the whole of the Laikipia region and is able to support the necessary needs for the rescue, recovery, and rehabilitation of local wildlife when needed.
The conservancy also operates as a working cattle ranch and provides the welfare of over 300 employees and their families in housing, health, education, and entertainment whilst providing additional support to its neighboring communities and development programs.
Take memories, leave only footprints. Small travel gang😜😎
